The webmaster goes online looking for a date

This blog started with the idea that I would update it frequently with news about the online dating industry. Unfortunately, that became boring for me rather quickly and it has been a year since I entered any such updates.

However, it occurs to me that I’m single and could do with meeting some members of the opposite sex. So why not write about my own experiences actually using an online dating service?

To give you some necessary background, I'm a white male in my thirties who recently moved to New York City.

I will also leave this open to comments. I know a lot of people who visit this site want to say stuff that doesn’t fit in the review format, so the comment sections to the blog posts may be the more appropriate place to do it.

I've noticed that public officals, educators, and the media accesses this website. I guess they know online dating is very complex and they want to learn more about the subject. This leads to the reason you'll find post that aren't of the review type. People are trying to understand and educate eachother about internet dating.

OK kill me. is internet dating THAT bad??? So far i have only signed up as (what i'll call) a "peeping tom" member. (maybe that should be a peeping trishia) ... i haven't paid for the subscription or communicated with anyone, but i get a chance to see (via email) all my eligible matches. oh, this has been interesting. A scary looking Harley dude actually winked at me (cringe).
And the bar scene is out for me, too. I know i would probably pick up -what cute single girl wouldn't- (as you previously stated) but i'm just not comfortable with that.
So, let me ask you, have you had any luck? I'm curious about the male perspective in all this.

Ok, I'm not speaking for all guys, just myself. I think internet dating is an 'okay' avenue but I've had to learn how to use the internet dating system.
When I first tried match.com I had NO luck. Then I did a bit of reading, a lot thinking, and too much trial and error to find how I could get match.com to work for me. So, I started experimenting with emails, profile text, etc and I found some tricks on how to make it work.
All in All, using internet dating is just like flying a airplane (well, not as dangerous)...it takes skill.
I've had a bit of success with internet dating but I think there are better dating options for a guy.
