My friend joined this membership about a year ago and has had great success. But she told me they are expensive. I guess you get what you pay for....

If you look at it right, you get more than whatever amount you pay for a membership. You get people to select, that you can be sure are not criminals from off the street, ready for a victim. As I understand it, they interview potential members, and conduct a background check BEFORE they are admitted to the membership at their Centers. When my welfare is on the line, I'll go with the service that provides the better selections,...and they really do.

Please, please beware!! I am a private investigator and I can tell you that G.E. does not do a thorough background check. What they do is run your credit card through to get a credit score so they can decide how much they can charge you. The higher the credit score, the higher the price. (Don't believe them when they say that all people pay the same price -- costs can run from $1500 - $6000 for the same plan.)
This company should be investigated further and, if they don't clean up their act, be put out of business.
Also, always be wary of any company or product that gives you no guarantees or waiting period or trial offer or a way to get part (or all) of your money back if you are not satisfied. Needless to say, G.E. gives you none of these.

I agree with thadd. The initial introduction is through a "free" dating service ad. Then someone calls you and invites you in as though you thought this might happen. When you arrive, the outer offices you see are very plush with other parts being shabby. The whole treatment is as though you are going to buy a used car. They do a lot of smooth talking about being safe because if people pay their fee, then they are legit. The first fee they show is above $7,000 and as you keep talking about the expense, it gets lower. Finally, I got a senior citizen discount and paid less than 30% of this fee. (Should have walked out by that time.) They even offered a payment term with half now and the balance within the month. Then, you are asked to sign a form that you will never reveal how much you pay for your enrollment fee. (Again a flag I ignored.) Among other things, you are invited back for a photo shoot. OK if they do a good job but the photos are poor and need retouching. Now, you must pay yet another fee of several hundred dollars which I finally got reduced by about 25%. Also, they make a video but give you no direction as to how much you should say or do in response to questions you have pre-selected and so, you run overtime and are pressured into redoing without having time to think about it. After paying the photo fee and selecting the photos, you never get a chance to see the finished product and when you go into the site, all you get are 100's of photos of the opposite sex that don't even fit the criteria you are looking for. There is no way to view your own profile and after sending emails and making phone calls, I have not received any response from them. I did get a CD disc of my photos without any corrections after wating several weeks and making a complaint to which there was no response. There is no help in providing you with leads. You are on your own. Worse than looking at newspaper ads. There is a great need for an investigation of this service. One other thing, the only photos available to be seen, are those in the local area. To see photos from any other city or part of the country, you must pay another fee. A real rip off for the fees paid. You can buy 5 or 6 years or more of service from any other dating site and really get good service from most. Just be aware of safety issues with other sites and even more so with this site relative to your purse strings, which obviously I was not.
