what's going on, can somebody here help me?

someone on yahoo personals dot com is giving me a hard time, I think, and customer support is not responding to my concerns. somebody has created the same generic "attractive guy" profile three times...responding to my ad and then rejecting me when I respond back to them. apparently somebody who has a beef with me?

the ad looks exactly the same, except they insert pics of different hunky professional cricket athletes in them every time. I figured it out after seeing groups of admiring Asians in some of the pics and, putting two and two together, found the pics on professional cricket websites.

this isn't yahoo trying to get me to sign up, right?

Reading through the reviews I find that most of them are angry at Yahoo! Personals for one of two things: Customer service or quality of responses. I didn't rate Yahoo! Personals 5 stars because of their customer service. I had trouble with the cancelation billing, however even that got sorted out in the end. I have had friends who have had profiles/photos dropped, refused, etc., but Yahoo! eventually took care of them. As for the quality of the people responding...well, what do you expect? Unfortunatly, people play games. Many times the pictures are not current. People lie about their looks, their marital status and their lives. This, however, is not the fault of the dating service. I have tried Match.com, eHarmony, and Yahoo! and I am sticking with Yahoo! personals. Match.com is pretty much the same but is unable to offer as fine a "match-up" as I am looking for. With eHarmony I never got a match in my requested area nor were my so-called matches right, ie: I asked for non-smokers and I was sent matches who were. When I contacted the CS department about my concerns I was told I was too narrow-minded in my search field...on both items. Right. Yahoo! Personals has tips on how to do your profile, pictures, dating, etc. Read what they have to say. If you are serious about meeting someone put in an undoctored picture of yourself. One that looks like you do on an ordinary day. You can add more special photos in your profile. Anyway, anyone who uses online dating sites needs to understand that there will be some fake profiles...don't ask me why...but if it looks too good to be true and the picture is a little too professional, don't bother. Also if you don't like the matches you are getting or the people you are meeting, change something in your profile. Chances are it just needs "tweeking" maybe you are being too vague or too picky. I think online dating sites should be reserved for those looking for lasting relationships. Unfortunatly, anyone, regardless of their motives can use them. Be mature and realize that you will most likely get out of the site what you put into it. Don't blame the site if you don't make the "connection" you want.

Yahoo is not much better than any other dating site. However, since I own some stock in it I think it's the greatest way to meet people!! ----------NOT :-( but still gets the stars. So, I would say pick Yahoo.

The real rating - ZERO stars.

So, just events in the chronological order.

1. I created my profile. Spent half an hour filling all these forms. 2. The profile disappeared, no notification was sent. 3. I decided that probably it was some technical issue and created my profile again, spending 1/2 hour again. 4. The profile disappeared again. 5. I tried to contact their technical support. 6. They ignored my request. 7. I expressed my dissatisfaction about the quality of their service. 8. They answered that I should not create my profile on the US site (???) (Is the East coast not the US?) and recommended to contact my IP provider (????) 9. I tried to explain that, living in Durham, NC, I am pretty positive that I am in the US, and that I want my profile to be restored. 10. They ignored my request. 11. I created completely new profile and added photos to it. 12. They dropped my photos. I was absolutely sure that my photos met all the requirements. I read their requirements 3 times and I am pretty sure that, having a doctoral degree, I was able to interpret those half a dozen rules adequately. 13. I added my ID photo as a prime photo. 14. They wrote that my photo did not meet their requirements. 15. At this point, I became really curious (it's interesting which of these requirements my PASSPORT-type photo does not meet? Nudity? :) Non-recognisible face? :) So, I asked about it and expressed my dissatisfaction again. 16. They ignored my request.

So, I think that's more than enough to make a conclusion about the quality of service provided by this site.

I just did a search on Yahoo personals for females in Dallas, 21-29, 5'4"-6'0", slim/slender/athletic/fit. I got overwhelming results, but I did browse through the first 50. What I found was interesting - several had the same pic, and several had different pics but the same *exact* features (including text entered by the so-called user). This is very sketchy to me. I have not signed up or replied to any profiles yet, as I'm just browsing different sites now. I give Yahoo 3 stars because there are many people using their Personals.

I used Yahoo Personals to find a girl who love the good green stuff. In my profile I dropped a few hints as to my intentions on Yahoo. After 2 weeks this hot chick sent me an Instant Message wanting me to spell it out for her. When I told her what I was up to she became excited. We chatted a few times, then I revealed to her I was into hydroponics. At this point she couldn't resist, so we hooked up the next day. We both took the day off from work for a little fun, you only live once. I picked her up from her apartment, then took her over to my house. We B.S.ed a little bit then I showed her the goods. To say the least, she couldn't wait to share a bowl of Lucky Charms with me. After the enhancements came into effect we were all over each other. It was like a blink of the eye and bam this hottie was acting like she was deprived. We did the normal thing but the shocker came after that. She wanted to play cowboy and cowgirl. I gave into her demands and All I have to say is Yeee-Ha! Thank you Yahoo Personals, I enhanced my Chances and Enhanced my mood all at the same time.

I have used several sites in different times: Match, E Harmony, Perfectmatch, and Yahoo. I rate Yahoo quite high. They have a personality report that was spot on for me, suggested certain types for my type. Regarding the fake ads or spams, those are very easy to spot. I mean how many attractive 27 yos are going to be interested in a 54 yo, even if I'm good looking, youthful, fit, and intelligent?

My advice to men (and perhaps women as well) using these sites, is to be realistic, take stock of yourself. That doesn't mean you have to aim low, but even if you are a youthful middle age and figure you can physically and sexually keep up with 30 somethings forget it, they won't be interested. In fact I've frustrated myself pursuing attractive 40 yos, they are at a different point in life (often have kids), and so am I. In fact my criteria anymore is someone who remembers where they were when Kennedy was shot, as they grew up in the same culture and world.

I've found that all these sites (wouldn't recommend E Harmony but for different reasons), have plenty of attractive, real women in that group, and I find them responsive. Quickly move to meet and greets (the idea) though, don't linger on and on with phone calls and e mailing (not the idea, ineffective). And if someone doesn't get off the dime, move on, don't waste a lot of time on any one prospect. Both Perfectmatch and Yahoo have the personality reports, that enhance the odds of hitting it off with any prospect, it's a great feature, that also saves your time and energy, as I have found the worst situation is to be with someone that is mutually hot chemistry wise, but is a dead end personality wise, have learned through hard expereince to avoid that one.

The Worst! All of the women are fake, It is so wierd that I would get winks from these great women, when I would reply I would get no response. I am of the opinion that no one would use the stupid wink function with a canned line, they are there for the sole purpose of automating fake women bots that make it appear that there are actually women on their site. Completly Bogus.

Then, when I cancelled using there website it kept billing my account, I had to call to cancel, even though I cancelled online several times, these guys are dishonest scammers.

Good luck trying to get someone to help you if your profile is not approved. After reading and rereading the guidelines I sent several emails begging someone to tell me what was wrong with my profile and received nothing but automated responses. Eventually I found a phone number to call for customer service- I was searching for how to cancel my service when I stumbled across it. [866 433 3384 M-F 5am-8pm PST, Sat&Sunday 7am-3pm] My guess is that after the initial cancellation period is over you would not be able to find this number at all- based on how apparent it is to me already (I have only been a member for week now) that this company wants nothing to do with providing customer service if they can avoid it and still get your money.

As for whether or not the service works I can't yet say but I do wish I had read the reviews below before signing up. My advise to those who have had serious problems with Yahoo is to write the Attorneys generals office in the state in which you reside and let them know you think Yahoo is committing fraud by.....well just see the other reviews and you can fill in the blank.

I tried a few of the online dating sites. Match.com, eharmony, and Yahoo. They all are relatively similar, although I must say eharmony takes longer to respond to and is somewhat painstaking to set up. I assumed I would meet more "quality' people on that site, but alas, all were about the same. Guess I may have just got lucky but I met my soulmate on Yahoo.com and I work with 2 other people who have done the same. You just can't trust everyone that's for sure, but try to be specific and fussy about your ad and who you are looking at and it might help. Interestingly enough, I went for ads without pictures as I felt that could be boastful, and did not want that type. Again I got lucky perhaps, but the two of us are extremely happy. Dennis
