I tend to go on a lot of dates with people I meet at bars and clubs, so I figured I'd give yahoo personals a chance. It turned out to be a ghost town when it came to amount of women in my area on the site. I live in a major city and there were maybe a handful of search matches that came up. Then, I checked over on match.com, and there were about 20x more matches. Maybe one day if everyone gets sick of match, they'll go over to yahoo, making it better, but until then, you should stick with match.com.

On another note, I sent out roughly 20 emails on both yahoo and match. I got back zero replies from yahoo, and 5 from match. Don't waste your time with yahoo

I have been looking around for women to date for about 3 years. Yahoo Personals turned out to be a goldmine of qualified candidates. I was reluctant to use any Internet service because I thought the only chicks using it would be the same morons and bimbos you see in chatrooms. I was pleasantly surprised. The quality of females who responed to my profile was outstanding, and the third one I dated turned out to be a perfect match.

I signed up for a 6 month subscription plan with Yahoo Personals, but I only used it for about a month before I grew tired of it. There wern't too many women on that site I was compatible with. The women who were a good match for me didn't seem too interested. I had a few emails and "Icebreakers" sent to me but those were from uncompatible women, who were generally too young for me. I've drawn the opinion that the internet isn't a good place to meet people. A great deal of the profiles on Yahoo Personals are inactive. A big waste of time and an even bigger waste of money. Thanks for reading.

It's already shady enough that yahoo uses it service to prey on lonely single people. Yes, you know what I mean - they sucker you into subscribing for their service, because hey, it's only $25 to send out a few emails, right? Then you find out that only a fraction of people can actually READ your emails, since they're not paying members. And naturally, yahoo doesn't let you see who's a paying subscriber and who isn't. Then yahoo continuously tries to auto-renew you until you actively cancel your account, and let me tell you, it's great fun trying to find out where that 'cancel subscription' button is located on their website.

Now we have to deal with yahoo USING their former customers to add success stories to a public review board. Come on, yahoo, that's pathetic. Anyone can see that these reviews are blatant attempts to absorb more subscribers. Anyhow, if you do end up trying out online dating, keep in mind that the success rate is VERY low, but apparently yahoo will do anything to make you think otherwise.

I did not meet the man of my dreams on Yahoo Personals. It was a disappointing experience, overall. Most of the other customers didn't have legit profiles, and the yahoo customer service was terrible.

Unlike all the shills that have been writing reviews here, it's unlikely that you will find a match from yahoo, or any other internet dating site. Anyone is better off trying to meet someone in public, as opposed to online.

I met the man of my dreams on Yahoo Personals. He is now my sweet husband. Our match was extraordinary in that we are compatible in so many facets of life: education, religion, love of dogs, future dreams, desire for closeness and refusal to obtain a divorce. We love each other so much. We laugh, we play, and we honor God together. Thank you to Yahoo Personals.

Most of the people writing on this site in the past month are not writing reviews, they're writing TESTIMONIALS. If people want to read about how you met "insert random person", and how you feel you owe your grandson's life to yahoo for making it possible, then we can choose to read about it on the yahoo site, in their "testimonials" section.

The reviews here are supposed to give prospective customers an ACCURATE representation of what to expect prior to paying for the yahoo dating service. And, an ACCURATE representation would be - "You spend upwards $50 to send out a few emails, and have less than a 1% chance of finding something meaningful. If you actually want to get online dating to work, you have to put tons of effort into using the service. Or, you have to get lucky. Furthermore, the whole online dating business is scam because yahoo doesn't let you see who's a subscriber, and is actually able to read your communications! This means you could send out dozens of emails, without a single one being read. Also, yahoo uses an auto-renew payment method which is difficult to cancel, and is designed to keep draining your money."

Now, you might think I'm just bitter that online dating didn't work for me... but guess what? I'm getting married to someone I met from yahoo personals. Yahoo recently contacted me asking to write a testimonial at this link. So, it's my guess that they've contacted all of the people with success stories asking them to write reviews on this site.

Just so you have some more background on where I'm coming from, over the past few years, I've tried match.com, plentyoffish, true, eharmony, etc, etc, etc. Yahoo was no better than any of the other offerings, but there just happened to be the right person at the right time on yahoo. I owe nothing to yahoo, because frankly, they don't care about providing a good customer experience. They look at me in terms of $/customer... and they only want me to write a review here to generate more profit. Yes, I'm lucky to have found someone, and I'm thankful that it happened over yahoo. But in retrospect, I could have met anyone anywhere, and I probably would've been a lot richer had I not wasted money and my TIME on dating sites. So, just to recap.. if you want to try to be in that 1% of people who can meet online, get to work, it's going to be a stressful few years - otherwise, just stick with the other 99% and meet in real life.

I placed my profile on Yahoo Personals in a simple search for friends, for like-minded individuals who could assist me on my quest, my journey, as I discovered my true identity late in life. Little did I dream that I would find the other half of my soul, my heart, my pulse, my love. We are still on the path of discovery, but neither of us is alone now. We are truly blessed. I am so happy that I utilized Yahoo Personals!

When Ralph and I got engaged after meeting on Yahoo Personals I told the girls at work that I paid $24.95 for the love of my life.

Seriously, I'm floored and thankful that love could blossom from a personals website. I felt completely at ease knowing that I could move at a pace that I was comfortable with. In fact, Ralph and I communicated through Yahoo Instant Messenger and over the phone for a month before we ever met face to face. Through the natural progression of the relationship love turned into marriage in February.

To be given the opportunity to build a new life in our mid to late thirties is priceless to the two of us. Thank you Yahoo!
