I think that the site is brutal. The problem is that it's free to post something. What they or any other site really needs to do is charge a LOT of money to do ANYTHING on it and weed out those who have no interest in it.

I went on dates with several women after being on the site for 3-4 months. I'm not Brad Pitt, but I'm in good shape, and pretty cute according to my female friends that I've overheard when they didn't know I was in earshot. I'll be blunt and say that I don't date "plus sized" women. I've dated all types: models, hippies, the girl next door type, even an NFL cheerleader. I was surprised that I really had to work at it hard to get responses from anyone I considered attractive, when I normally feel like I can get a date from most anyone with enough effort and finesse.

I'll admit that one girl was pretty cool, but I met someone off-line who I dated for a while and blew the other one off only because, "I met her online".

I'll admit, it was VERY shallow, but there's probably the lesson on how most people view anyone they have met online. People over the age of 25 still roll their eyes a little behind someone's back, even if they've done internet dating in the past. Therefore those online relationships have to be really good to stick past a first date or two. So, to really get the people that want to meet someone. Charge a bunch of cash and make the site cleaner and easier to use. They'd probably make more money.

John: That's spectacular that you got married on September 2, 2006! What time of day was it: morning, afternoon or evening? Maybe if you added that, your "review" wouldn't sound quite as fake.

Seriously, you Yahoo employees need to get the hell off this board. Your company is already in bad enough shape - why not think of more productive things to do instead of adding to your crappy business model? I guarantee that writing crap on this forum will get you nowhere.

Yahoo personals gets 1 star from me, because, John, your "review" doesn't count.

I recently joined Yahoo personals after running out of people to contact on Match. I wasn't happy with Match but blame myself partly because I didn't take it seriously at first and passed on some good early contacts. After being on it for a year and seeing the same men on it, even though they portrayed themselves as real catches, I decided to try another service. I made my profile, paid my membership, and waited. I got a few early replies and stated chatting with a few guys but most of them "disappeared" after a few times. However, I began talking to one guy who I seemed to hit it off with. In less than a week of membership we met, I felt I was getting off to a good start. Our date was good and unlike most of my dates that ended after coffee, this one turned into lunch and good conversation. I made myself open to meeting someone with small children, which I really prefer not to since my child is almost grown and I am not looking to have to chase children around again. However, I tried to be more open and not so "picky" but it seems the men with the most baggage are the pickiest. After lunch, he wanted to know what I wanted to do next and I really just wanted to go home as I think 2 or 3 hours is long enough for a first meeting. He kept trying to get physical in a subtle way and even suggested going to his place. I felt uncomfortable with this since I will not get sexually involved with a man till after marriage and a man who is getting physical 2 hours after meeting probably won't wait that long. We emailed each other after the date and then he sent me an "we just aren't compatible" email and blocked me so I couldn't respond. What a winner! A middle age man with 3 small children shouldn't be so picky. I think he should be a little more open like I was. But then again, I guess he was looking for sex as he was recently divorced.

Now I am getting about 30 looks a day with 1 or 2 messages, usually from someone who lives too far away or has no photo. When I start talking to someone for a while, they seem to disappear. I had a rejection from a guy who said "there is too much of an age difference". Funny since it was only 2 years. However, he was willing to date someone 15 years younger than him and up to 2 years younger but since I was 2 years OLDER, we couldn't be compatible.

All in all I have found Yahoo to be full of a bunch of picky men who lie about their income, weight, have alot of baggage, and are looking for someone too young for them. I just hope it gets better and I didn't waste my money again.

Sandi, I believe you're the Yahoo employee who's writing the reviews, and you're trying to make the reviews legit. We've all know that liars can't wait to defend themselves. Also, you didn't give Yahoo a 5 star review, rather you gave it a 4 star in hopes that we'd shut up and Yahoo can carry on with it's plans.

... What are Yahoo's plans?

Yahoo plans are to write a bunch of good reviews on this website. Once there are enough good reviews of YP and the rating of Yahoo personals is at a respectable 3/5, Yahoo plans to link this site to it's homepage. At this point, Yahoo can say: "Look at Yahoo personals, we're better than the rest at helping our members find a successful relationship."

Truthfully, the real winner will be the webmaster of this site. He can increase what he gets for ad revenue. If this is the case the webmaster is going to delete this review, and Sandi is going to write a bunch more reviews. If the webmaster doesn't delete my review, then Sandi is going to attack what I wrote.

The actual truth is only 5% of the people who use internet dating make it to a successful relationship.

HI there to all those people who don;t believe in internet dating.

I met the man i have been looking for all my life, and i finally found him on yahoo, no i am not a bimbo that goes online looking for men, in actuall fact i met him on here skipped by his profile, and went to the club here in our town, he came up to me and asked me to dance, that is when i found out he actually emailed me and i did not answer, now we have been inseprable for a month, and i hope it is for life, he hugs me holds me and i don;t ever want to be out of his arms. And so to those who feel internet dating is all about subscriptions take a look around, it really is hard meeting someone out there unless you like the bar scene, then you may meet someone that is not right for you anyway, so take that chance it could be worth all the waiting. GOOD LUCK TO ALL

Nice fake testimonials man, Yahoo paid you to write them? I bet you do Hallmark cards for a living too, right? lol.

I get a kick out of this. I seems Yahoo has spotted this site where members were giving their name a bad rap (an honest testimonial) only to find out they were being torn apart by us.

So they send thier flunkies to do some dirty work for them.

I recently received an email from yahoo asking me to post my testimonial to this site; however, I didn't realize this was actually a public review system until I actually read some of the review. It seems unfair that yahoo is trying to manipulate this board to give prospective customers the impression that it's actually a decent service through testimonial-like "reviews." While I have no hatred for yahoo, the thing simply doesn't work! I'm sure there are a handful of women who have met their perfect match from yahoo, but those women represent a needle in a haystack.

Ultimately, the money that you waste on yahoo is the least of your concerns. After my 6 month subscription, I was left with a horrible taste in my mouth (figuratively). You simply can't screen out the right people, and you're left going on dates with people who don't look like their pictures. Quite frankly, it kills self esteem for both guys and girls. And honestly, I've had much better luck in the "real world" than I ever did wasting my time with online dating.

I tend to go on a lot of dates with people I meet at bars and clubs, so I figured I'd give yahoo personals a chance. It turned out to be a ghost town when it came to amount of women in my area on the site. I live in a major city and there were maybe a handful of search matches that came up. Then, I checked over on match.com, and there were about 20x more matches. Maybe one day if everyone gets sick of match, they'll go over to yahoo, making it better, but until then, you should stick with match.com.

On another note, I sent out roughly 20 emails on both yahoo and match. I got back zero replies from yahoo, and 5 from match. Don't waste your time with yahoo
