IT is interesting that I have been a member of true for over a year with very few results in first 9 months. An occasional email from someone 1000 miles away. Then all of a sudden, at least 10 winks a week from guys in my area. Some only 3 miles from me. No emails, just winks. Now in the past few days, I have been getting about 10- 15 winks a day. It is odd that my ad seems to be getting more response the older it gets. I have gotten several that are "winking back at me" this is interesting since I have never winked at anyone and don't even use the service but can't get rid of my free membership that was supposed to end last october. I don't trust any response from true because they seem to all be fake. It is odd that not one guy emails me anymore, just a wink. ALso when someone winks, they usually do it 3 times. How odd that all these guys would accidently hit the send button 3 times.

This site is the biggest scam ever. The situation that has been described many times below concerning unauthorized billing has also occurred to me. I am looking at possible legal action against this company. Please email me at jcarpenter @ mernalaw . com if this has happened to you and I will keep you updated as to possible action that can be taken.

Thanks.

I LOVE TRUE! I signed up for a free trial and after my 7 days, I was given an additional 30 days for posting my picture! I find it appalling that some of you are complaining about felony and marriage screenings! I'd prefer to search only for men who are seriously looking for a relationship not a threesome with their oversexed wife! About those winks, it's an option that you can have shut off and oh, does anyone read what they signed up for? It states that you must call and tells you the date to call by! I enjoyed this site so much that I have signed up for a 6 month package! I think the problem is there are too many illiterate people out there who put their credit card out there without reading what they're signing up for! The same people complaining are probably the same people who emcompass the 80% of Americans in debt because they can't keep track of their finances! and then wonder why they can't get a date...it's laughable!

Like many have said on here, 1 star is 1 star too many!

True.com is a scam! Not to mention that they advertise on MySpace which is a source of many who might fall to this scam.

I signed up, paid for a membership, and then started receiving "winks" from people I wouldn't be caught dead with! Not to mention, responses to "winks" that I supposedly sent out.

I contacted "customer service" on July 4, knowing that my membership, which was rarely used, was soon to expire. I explictly told them that I did not want to be billed again and would possibly continue to use it until the membership period ran out. I was told that I would need to contact them again via phone to cancel before July 13. Between July 7 and July 14, I was out of the country and away from any communications device, other than satellite phone, hence I could not contact them to cancel.

I called today and both the rep and the manager told me that they would not refund my membership, they would cancel the membership, but now have $50 of my money for no services. Hmm...take someone's money without consent, the person cancels, and True wins. Sounds fraudulent to me.

BUYER BEWARE!! True.com is a GIANT SCAM!! While true.com is 98% free of webcam spam, half of their profiles seem less than genuine. Half the women seem like paid models, or even just stock photos used to make fake accounts. I would love to investigate and find out exactly how many. Secondly, you will have to call them by phone to cancel. Which I did three months ago. But then they reopened my account on me and tried to tell me that I had done it. I haven't been on the site in 3 months. How could I re-sign up? I am out $100 and I am calling fraud on them. If other people have had the same thing happen to them, I would love to join in on a civil suit.

True is the worst site out there. I too have been charged for services not used. Their customer service is horrible. I was lectured when I called in to cancel my account after getting charged $50 for nothing. It is the only site I know of that you have to call in to cancel. They do that so you will forget to cancel or call in to cancel, get put on hold forever and then give up.

DO NOT SIGN UP ON TRUE!!!! IT IS A SCAM!!

Hi: My experience with true.com has been the same as the others posted here. I canceled my "free" 7 day trial period, but when I re-visited the website, I saw that I was still a member. When I called to cancel again, I spoke with "Salvador", the rudest person I have ever spoken with. He kept yelling at me and telling me that I had accidentally renewed my membership when I visited the website. I told him that was imposible, since in order to do so, you have to key-on part of your credit card number, and I certainly would have remembered doing that. I've been charged $49.95, and hope that others will learn from my mistake. I threatened to call the Better Business Bureau, and "Salvador" didn't bat an eye. Is there any recourse for those of us who have been ripped-off?

My experience with True.com is one of the worst I've ever had. The day I signed up, I also signed up with about ten other services, and by the time I got to True I didn't read the terms and conditions very carefully. As a result, I didn't realize that people who are separated are not eligible to use the site. My fault--I should have read the terms more carefully.

After about three weeks, I discovered my mistake. I sent an email to cancel my 1-month subscription. A week later I saw a $50 charge on my credit card.

I called "customer care." After waiting on hold for about 20 minutes, I finally got a customer service rep who told me no refund would be issued. I asked to speak to a supervisor and calmly explained my situation--yes, I'd made a mistake in signing up, but I was now trying to fix that mistake. I saw no reason why I should pay $50 for a 2nd month's worth of a service, since I'm not eligible to use it.

The supervisor then told me that, not only would I not receive a refund, he would be reporting me to the "fraud team" for prosecution. I couldn't believe what I was hearing! I asked directly, "So as a result of trying to rectify my error, I'm being charged $50 and reported to the authorities?" His answer, "Yes."

For what it's worth, during my time at True, I repeatedly received "winks" from women who DID NOT initiate contact with me. Likewise, I found myself receiving responses from winks that I never sent.

This site is an elaborate scam, plain and simple. They generate false leads for their customers, and the customer service is unbelievably bad. Take this review in conjuction with the others you see on this site and stay far, far away from True.com.

1 star is 1 star too many. True.com is a total scam and they should be forced out of business as a matter of urgency. I sent an e-mail within the 1-week grace period to cancel my free subscription after I was unable to reach them by telephone. 1 day after the 1 week's grace period, I called to confirm the cancellation and waited 20min to get to talk to a rep. This rep, one "Jessica", said my e-mail cancellation was not valid as their site says cancellation must be by phone. She said she would cancel my subscription but that I would be billed $49.99. For what??? I got about 3 randonm contacts during the week's subscription; none of these contacts came close to matching my required characteristics. This service is so appalling that they cannot conceivably make money legitimately and instead resort to stealing $49.99 sums of money from unsuspecting victims. Please file your complaints with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC; https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01) and help get those true.com scoundrels off the Internet. Also, alert the companies that host true.com ads about these scammers' unscrupulous behavior. And keep your records of your transactions with true.com. They will sooner or later be sued and be made to refund some portion of the money they have stolen.
