I am presently dating a very nice lady. I am thrilled wiht her. She seems happy with me. We went to the same high school. She was a year ahead of me. My class had 421 students. I do not know how many were in her class. We did not know each other. The computer said we are not compatible. She is extrmely organized. I am extemely disorganized. We seem to undestand this and it is working.
I have dated other people from YAHOO. They have not gone so well. I have dated from other sights also. I do not think Yahoo is any better or worse than any other dating sight. I feel HONESTY is the most important part of any dating. My friend is honest. I have been honest. We enjoy a lot of the same things. Neither one of us lied about our age or weight. We both dislike smokers. We both like Harleys. We both have 2 jobs.
I think we have found each other. It is because we were both HONEST. No suprises when you meet is GOOD. We both know what we wanted and neither one of us misrepresented this. If a relationship starts out dishonestly it has only one way to go. It can only go wrong. I have discontinued my personal add. It is because I have met someone. The fun has started but the work to maintain the relationship has also started. We both know that we are going to have to put in effort. We have to try to make this go on. It started HONESTLY. It has a much better chance things will work out. I wish all people trying to date GOOD LUCK. My tip for whatever that is worth is BE HONEST!!!! J

I have to agree with the post below me. She knows what she is talking about. I am over 40 with my child almost grown and do not want to date a man who is still raising small children. I have already raised mine without his help, so why shoud I help him? And PICKY, you better believe it. The 55 year old man with 3 children under 10, usually rowdy boys, wants to date a woman in her 20's?? Most 20 year old women are not interested in taking on a bunch of childen because they want to have their own and don't want a husband whose paycheck goes to the ex and his kids with her. The women his age don't want to have to deal with kids and planning around them. Face it men, you had your fun in your 20's and 30's and waiting to marry and have children in your 40's, now your are divorced with children and expect the woman who had kids younger and is now enjoying her free years to help you raise yours. You need to wait till the kids are grown, you will probably be 65 or over by then, to find a woman, and not one is her 40's at that time. Yahoo seems to have a overload of this kind of man.

GGGRRRRHHHH. I have never been so disappointed and frustrated than I have in the past two years. I've tried Yahoo Personals and Match. Both are a joke. WHERE ARE THE REAL MEN IN THIS WORLD BECAUSE THEY AREN'T ON THESE DATING WEBSITES! I have never in my life read profiles that are so sugar coated and fake and met so many spinless men in my life. I'm 48 years old and have been divorced for four years now. My conversations with my ex are more stimulating than the dates I have been on. The number one problem with the men on these sites is they are all going through what I call "male menopause". They want someone who is 5 to 10 years younger than them. And what is with these 55 year old coots who have 3 children all under the age of 10? What the heck were they doing when I was having my kids in my late 20's? And the first thing they say in their profiles is "I'm really busy with my children but want to start dating....." Okay - woman my age don't want to date and babysit at the same time. We want to D A T E and not between soccer, baseball and football games. We have raised our kiddies and want to start having a life without having to raise another litter of someone elses kids. Dudes - wake up and smell the roses. You started too late. On top of that, they then think they can get someone who is 10 years younger than them! Oh my god - have they looked in the mirror?!?!? Now I'm not a runway model and I know at my age you do have to lower your standards in the "looks" area. But my experience is they still want the runway model (or maybe the permanent babysitter for all those little ones). God bless the young ladies who jump into that scenario. I'm going out with the girlfriends and having fun. And while I'm out having fun, the old Daddies can sit at home and watch Cartoon Network while searching the Internet for Bambi.

This site is not worth a nickle, first I wrote a couple emails to potential matches I thought were interesting. No response, than I wrote 12 more custom emails to potential matches and only got one response, and she basically said she was a "bi@tch" and I wouldn't be interested in her anyways. Save your money, this isn't worth your time. My profile was completely filled out and I posted a couple nice pictures of myself on there.
Now I am using a free site and I have recieved more responses in a day than I got with Yahoo over three months. Yahoo is dead, put a fork in it!
Here is an idea for people who run pay sites, make us guys pay to post a profile and let the women sign up and respond for free. You would make a mint and everyone would be happy! (You know like ladies night)

I think that the site is brutal. The problem is that it's free to post something. What they or any other site really needs to do is charge a LOT of money to do ANYTHING on it and weed out those who have no interest in it.
I went on dates with several women after being on the site for 3-4 months. I'm not Brad Pitt, but I'm in good shape, and pretty cute according to my female friends that I've overheard when they didn't know I was in earshot. I'll be blunt and say that I don't date "plus sized" women. I've dated all types: models, hippies, the girl next door type, even an NFL cheerleader. I was surprised that I really had to work at it hard to get responses from anyone I considered attractive, when I normally feel like I can get a date from most anyone with enough effort and finesse.
I'll admit that one girl was pretty cool, but I met someone off-line who I dated for a while and blew the other one off only because, "I met her online".
I'll admit, it was VERY shallow, but there's probably the lesson on how most people view anyone they have met online. People over the age of 25 still roll their eyes a little behind someone's back, even if they've done internet dating in the past. Therefore those online relationships have to be really good to stick past a first date or two. So, to really get the people that want to meet someone. Charge a bunch of cash and make the site cleaner and easier to use. They'd probably make more money.

John: That's spectacular that you got married on September 2, 2006! What time of day was it: morning, afternoon or evening? Maybe if you added that, your "review" wouldn't sound quite as fake.
Seriously, you Yahoo employees need to get the hell off this board. Your company is already in bad enough shape - why not think of more productive things to do instead of adding to your crappy business model? I guarantee that writing crap on this forum will get you nowhere.
Yahoo personals gets 1 star from me, because, John, your "review" doesn't count.

I recently joined Yahoo personals after running out of people to contact on Match. I wasn't happy with Match but blame myself partly because I didn't take it seriously at first and passed on some good early contacts. After being on it for a year and seeing the same men on it, even though they portrayed themselves as real catches, I decided to try another service. I made my profile, paid my membership, and waited. I got a few early replies and stated chatting with a few guys but most of them "disappeared" after a few times. However, I began talking to one guy who I seemed to hit it off with. In less than a week of membership we met, I felt I was getting off to a good start. Our date was good and unlike most of my dates that ended after coffee, this one turned into lunch and good conversation. I made myself open to meeting someone with small children, which I really prefer not to since my child is almost grown and I am not looking to have to chase children around again. However, I tried to be more open and not so "picky" but it seems the men with the most baggage are the pickiest. After lunch, he wanted to know what I wanted to do next and I really just wanted to go home as I think 2 or 3 hours is long enough for a first meeting. He kept trying to get physical in a subtle way and even suggested going to his place. I felt uncomfortable with this since I will not get sexually involved with a man till after marriage and a man who is getting physical 2 hours after meeting probably won't wait that long. We emailed each other after the date and then he sent me an "we just aren't compatible" email and blocked me so I couldn't respond. What a winner! A middle age man with 3 small children shouldn't be so picky. I think he should be a little more open like I was. But then again, I guess he was looking for sex as he was recently divorced.
Now I am getting about 30 looks a day with 1 or 2 messages, usually from someone who lives too far away or has no photo. When I start talking to someone for a while, they seem to disappear. I had a rejection from a guy who said "there is too much of an age difference". Funny since it was only 2 years. However, he was willing to date someone 15 years younger than him and up to 2 years younger but since I was 2 years OLDER, we couldn't be compatible.
All in all I have found Yahoo to be full of a bunch of picky men who lie about their income, weight, have alot of baggage, and are looking for someone too young for them. I just hope it gets better and I didn't waste my money again.

Sandi, I believe you're the Yahoo employee who's writing the reviews, and you're trying to make the reviews legit. We've all know that liars can't wait to defend themselves. Also, you didn't give Yahoo a 5 star review, rather you gave it a 4 star in hopes that we'd shut up and Yahoo can carry on with it's plans.
... What are Yahoo's plans?
Yahoo plans are to write a bunch of good reviews on this website. Once there are enough good reviews of YP and the rating of Yahoo personals is at a respectable 3/5, Yahoo plans to link this site to it's homepage. At this point, Yahoo can say: "Look at Yahoo personals, we're better than the rest at helping our members find a successful relationship."
Truthfully, the real winner will be the webmaster of this site. He can increase what he gets for ad revenue. If this is the case the webmaster is going to delete this review, and Sandi is going to write a bunch more reviews. If the webmaster doesn't delete my review, then Sandi is going to attack what I wrote.
The actual truth is only 5% of the people who use internet dating make it to a successful relationship.

HI there to all those people who don;t believe in internet dating.
I met the man i have been looking for all my life, and i finally found him on yahoo, no i am not a bimbo that goes online looking for men, in actuall fact i met him on here skipped by his profile, and went to the club here in our town, he came up to me and asked me to dance, that is when i found out he actually emailed me and i did not answer, now we have been inseprable for a month, and i hope it is for life, he hugs me holds me and i don;t ever want to be out of his arms. And so to those who feel internet dating is all about subscriptions take a look around, it really is hard meeting someone out there unless you like the bar scene, then you may meet someone that is not right for you anyway, so take that chance it could be worth all the waiting. GOOD LUCK TO ALL
