Match appears to be a scam. I had a 6 month membership. I followed all of their stupid rules and didn't meet anyone. The following 5.5 months - my "free" period, were silent. About a week before my membership expired, the e-mails and winks started coming in. I let the membership lapse and I'm still getting constant notification of e-mails and winks. Match is a great idea with horrible execution. I amended my profile today, stating I was no longer on the site. They e-mailed that my changes were approved. They changed what I'd written. This site is a money making scam, not a way to meet people. It shouldn't matter, but I'm tall, trim, attractive, and loved by everyone I meet...

Bottom line: Match is a waste of time and money. I was on this site a few years ago and had no success then, either, but at least I got a reply or two and went on one actual date. Still not worth the price of admission, but it was something. This last time I sent over 100 messages for initial contact and the only reply I received was from a drone who thinks religion is more important than a relationship. Been there, done that, don't want it again.

As the last reviewer wrote, I also got winks and even a few messages from a few people who listed themselves as near me, but for various reasons were in West Africa. I saw the pattern quickly, and yes, those profiles would magically disappear after a day or two.

Maybe you will do well if you look like Brad Pitt or George Clooney and have money like they do, but then again, you wouldn't need to be on a dating site in that case. For all the rest of us, you'll get the same result on a free site. Difference is, at least it won't cost you membership fees.

I am getting very few e-mails and this from people who I am totally not interested in, but tons of Winks! Without fail,.. immediately the profile is unavailable, yet when you sort through the minefield of Zombie profiles, voila ....you catch a live one,
There was a really cute guy who I got a wink from and I sadly winked back thinking he was just an ex profiler but for some reason even if there was a chance in a million like winning Lotto I had to do it, he was just too cute, and lo and behold I got a response, I was so surprised I almost fell of my chair, !
But is he real? After my "Match experience",....
I would not be surprised if he disappeared back into the Cyber Ghost Realm never to be heard from again!

I went on Match 4 years ago and I got 10 to 15 e-mails daily, met nice people, but that was then and now it is dead and gone, there is more life in a graveyard!
Maybe some weird Virus has taken over Match,....
I definitely won't renew, it is really a strange experience to say the least, like something from the Twilight Zone !

So I had been hearing from friends and others that match.com was a scam, so I conducted a little field test. I am legitimately a cute, professional guy in my early 30's which fits right into the wheelhouse of where I live. I meet cute girls out and have even met some half decent ones on Craigslist for crying out loud. So, being a cute guy and having cute pictures nothing should change being on match.com right? WRONG. I was getting winks but almost zero responses from women I e-mailed, the same type of cuties who are very receptive to me in any other venue; women who if were real or active on the site would certainly have responded and met me. LOL, I actually totally coincidentally met one in person out in Arlington that I had e-mailed online. She never responded to an email I had sent 3 weeks before. She even initiated communication with me at a bar, suspiciously never mentioning me being on match.com or that I e-mailed her. I was like "What happened, I e-mailed you, and you didn't respond?" Her response "I cancelled my account 6 months ago." I said "It says you were on-line within 24 hours." She's like "what?" She totally freaked out on match when she found out that an employee there had kept her account active and was using it to lured guys. I'm good friends with her still and match.com IS A FRAUD!!!!!!!!!

Match.com is a scam. I have been on the website several times. Each time I would be winked at by all sorts of men. I would wink back but nothing moves forward. I believe a lot of the profiles on there are phantom profiles. They would send you winks or emails to entice you to subscribe and pay and as soon as you do that, the profiles of the people who winked at you or emailed you disappear from the site. Also the emails you receive are one liners and when you do reply, the conversation ends there. Yes and if you have subscribed and paid be careful they will automatically renew your subscription and you will be paying for a service that you are not using. Its true that most people seem to be there for the one night stand, I have communicated with some really creepy people. So be gullible and pay any money to this service, I think most people there are phantom profiles.

Joined Match with a 3 month membership. I spoke to a few guys, met one in person, dated for a few weeks didn't work out. Then about a month into Match, I started chatting with one of my daily matches we met a few days later for coffee and have been going strong ever since.

I think you have to be realistic about what you're looking for and not take any perceived rejection personal. Match was one of the best things that ever happened to the two of us.

I love match.com because I am a cute guy and there are alot of emotionally damaged attractive woman who will have sex with me rather quickly on the site. It's really not that dissimilar from Craigslist, to be honest, and that is free. I'm sorry, but if you are a guy actually thinking you are going to meet someone on-line for a long term relationship, you are either really desperate or a damn fool. Nine out of ten people DO NOT find a life partner on the site, so don't think you will be in that 10%. Best to get out of the house and strike up relationships in person. When I am actually ready to settle down, I won't be going on-line to meet that person.

It's a total scam. They send an email of an attractive woman just to get you to pay the fee to read it and then you don't hear from her ever again. And if you've noticed, most of the women on Match.com like their men tall.

I am a single woman who is 32, educated and good-looking. I signed up for Match.com (as a non-subscriber) just to check the site out and see what was on there. Needless to say, I was only on there for 5 days and I had around 80 men who had looked at my profile, many men that "winked" at me and several who sent me emails.

So I decided use their "free 72 hour weekend" to see who looked at my profile and to read my emails--since you cannot see or do any of these things without being a subscriber (a.k.a. a paying member). Needless to say, I was not pleased with what I saw. The emails that I received were creepy, the men that looked at my profile were men that I would never date in real life and the matches that they sent me were completely off and did not meet my dating criteria that I listed in my profile.

I found Match.com to be more of a "meat market" and not a serious dating site. If I sign up for a dating site again, I would definitely go with eharmony...they match people according to personality and similiarities.

If you are looking for a fling, go with Match. If you are looking for a long-term relationship, go to eharmony.

MEN....DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON MATCH.COM! My rating is zero stars. Match.com is a joke. I am a decent looking guy in my lower 30's with a good job, etc. I sent out a few emails at first with no responses from any of the women. I then sent out around 20 with still no repsonse. Next I tried sending out 50 and I got a response! However, she was not too serious about anything and not very responsive to future emails. I then tried another 200 or so emails and got one more response. This time, the woman only wrote emails that were about one sentence in length. I soon found out she went through a bad divorce recently.

There are a lot of women on match who are divorced/separated with lots of children and baggage. Others seem to be looking for a guy who does not exist! The rest are not subscribers so they can't even read your emails! MEN....DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON MATCH.COM!
