Yahoo personals is a nightmare! The service was not worth what it was paid and after I deleted the account a month prior to my service ending they charged me for an entire service agreement and now they wont give it back. They just keep charging you for it if you dont call them and cancel it prior to your service ending. It never tells you that it is going to keep renew you until you call in Cancel. I am trying to fight it but it does not look good. I would talk anyone out of ever using there service, and to go with someone better like match.com which after I used yahoo I saw much better options on there. Yahoo is just better as an e-mail

Yahoo! billing and cancellation policies are one of the worst. There are many customers complaining about problem they faced with your billing and cancellation.

Yahoo.com and Match.com are the two site I have used the most. The same thing goes for Yahoo as I wrote for Match.com....Frustration and futility.

Then I found a tool that changed the entire picture. A friend sent me to a site called matchmatrix.com. I thought they were another dating site. I was wrong! They are much better. They have a product called MEnU. I purchased it and now I run every person I'm interested in through this rating system. So far I'm blown away. First it nailed what did not work in every single relationship I've had in the past. But the best is now I get a rating for someone I find on a dating site and either contact them or not. Using a dating site became worthwhile when before it was like shooting in the dark.

BTW.. I am not an affiliate and I get nothing for recommending matchmatrix.com. Besides, if your using a dating site, you don't want to stop. I just think that everyone that is dating needs to user their rating system before they waste any time and heartache. I mean EVERYONE!

One of the many problems that I have with Yahoo or online dating (only did Yahoo) in general is the issue of weeding out profiles which in essence comes down to weeding out photos and basic stats on a person. I'll grant you that noone can really define who they are in a couple of sentences, but most people craft their profiles to either prey on women's vulnerabilities by using all the "right" words (you can see right through this) or are so vague that to gather any real meaning from their profile as to who they really are is like swimming in muck and mire. Even though I put in my "requirements", I still received tons of email from men significantly younger and others who were nowhere near my criteria (sorry I do have criteria). Also, I got really sick of the canned introductions and I ended up revising my profile saying thanks, but no thanks if you approach me this way. When I revised my profile, I got an email from Yahoo that goes into why these ICEBREAKERS work; well they never worked for me because if you are too shy or whatever to write your own words, I am just not into playing this sort of game. I found 90% of the men seriously lacking in social skills and many just in it for the chase. Yes, honesty and directness is a real issue. Are you men too scared to be yourselves or maybe you are still in search of that too. I also had ongoing emails with men who seemed terrified to ask me for my number or who used every sexual innuendo in the book. So, when I revised my profile I came on pretty strong about who I am and what is important to me because I would rather receive one quality email to every 50 going nowhere fast email. I am pretty certain that I have gone against every rule of online dating and that my profile is one strong turn off to most men. If I get one email based on my revised profile I will be surprised. But I do not have the time to play games and frankly if someone can't understand the subtext to my profile or is scared off than why waste time. It all comes out in the wash anyway. I will let my membership run its course as I continue to live my life.

If it wasn't for Yahoo personal's I would have never met, my now husband. We were both very honest about what we wanted. Both of us were on the bad end of being cheated on.When I first saw him, my heart melted, but because I was scared, but at the same time I was attracted to him. I made the first move, yes I kissed him first. We talked for a long time, and started to get to know each other. Normally I am the person who makes the call to see someone after our first date, but I wasn't, I told him , the next move is up to you. Well he called the following day, we talked for awhile, I was very nervous, but excited at the same time.We started spending alot of time together. The following month, we decided to live together, so I moved to Geneva, and I'm still here. We got married a year later. The yahoo personals do work, I would recommed to everyone.

I gave Yahoo Personals one star because I had to...otherwise they wouldn't of gotten any.... I never found anyone on this site.....It was the same people you saw on the other sites.....Most people showed a picture of themself many years younger than they were....I had a few men to pick from and they really never changed.....that was it...

I tried to cancel Yahoo Personals and had a very hard time doing so....They want to keep charging your credit card.....which they will...I signed up for 6 months, I tried to quit at 4 or 5 months.....they would not let me....Then at 6 months they gave me such a hassle.....Now if I hadn't canceled that credit card....I do not believe I would of been able to get off from paying for this site......I gave them all my information....but they said my zip code didn't match....I know my zip code....They just wanted to hassle me....It has taken me a very long time to get off that site.....I still don't know if they have canceled me.....been working on it for a while now......

Never, never again will I sign up for Yahoo Personals.....Go to plenty of fish....it is free....and I have met a lot of nice people on there...

Anyone ever get that class action settlement check from yahoo? ($35 I think) I filled out the class action form and sent it in a long time ago--I'm sure it's 'lost in the mail' Anyway, the amazing thing is that Yahoo is even WORSE with the FAKE profiles...didn't they learn from the class action??? Wow, I'll bet they will get sued again. If you see smoking hot girls that have the most vague profile and nothing specific to your location (mention of sports teams, weather, current season, landmarks etc) then it IS a fake profile. Don't bother with their 'report this profile', obviously they won't turn themselves in!

However, I have met lots of girls thru yahoo as well, but it takes a LOT of work... just like sending out job resumes and you have to know how to filter out the bad apples. Anyway, I'm just surprised at how blatant yahoo puts up the fake profiles. Ok, Craigslist has lots of fakes, but those are different spammers that have something to gain and its free to post.

I have read the other reviews, many are very disgruntaled men. So I want to add a positive one. I have used Yahoo and Match.com 4 yrs ago and now. I live near a moderate sized town with very limited bar or social activities to meet women other than at work. So, on-line dating is a good avenue for me. Sure I have met many on-liners that were not truthful--espec in the "average" size section. I have also met many that were honest, caring and quality women...more than my years in the bar scene in larger cities. You get what you aim for. I am honest and direct in my profile about me and what I am looking for!! I had to "weed through" an average of about 5 to find one, but that is better average than the bar scene and I would spend a lot more than $30/mo. I dated one lady for close to 3yrs. So, complain if you must, but be truthful about who's fault it really is!!

Kiss My Ashley, right here: Oh my god.

I used to be a quas-hater(not nearly as miserable as you) too until i had to go to the hospital (TBI...it was nasty).

When i came out, i had a new outlook on life and my doctors did not want me going out to the clubs, and the loud music i couldn't stand, so i tried yahoo personals.

I'm a pretty handsome dude, and yeah it feels creepy when you get invites and say to yourself "no way carla from the sticks", but thats what it's all about: finding the right someone.

Online dating feels pretty lonely, but you have to think of how the girl on the other end feels. Everyone says things like "my friends made me do this" or "I'm sick of the bars/games" or "are there any nice guys out there", so you know its a level of desperation.

People like Kiss My Ashley are just miserable on the inside, to sit here and write a review calling everyone losers, c'mon girl. It's a cold&lonely world, and whats a few bucks here and there to try and find a date? It's not gonna be be perfect, nothing is, but you try and chat up someone, break the ice, share some interests, and see what happens. Worst case, you're out $13/mo. Tough sh*t. It's what you make of it, and although i'm of the impression that there are creeps-a-plenty, it's a good time scrolling through the images and reading profiles, you never know what might happen. 3 stars=worth a few dollars, just don't eat fast food or twinkies for a month, you can save $13.
