I created a profile on here just out of curiousity. I think I went on here two years ago out of curiousity (again), but remembered, I got a good handful of responses.I wanted to see if AS was as bad,or better, than that worthless Match.com. The verdict is still out, but I smell a rat close by. Seriously, charging people just to read their email? That is just downright ludicrous! You have to subscribe to be able to read email (some of which,do doubt will be from a few pervs, and not worth an answer)?! To Mike from "Outer Space" (see the review column for True) no, I don't really consider myself a misandronist. I'm hurling insults at the pervs, philanderers, and social losers that give the rest of you a bad name. Rotten luck-you're telling me? The men on Match.com don't know their asses from a hole in the ground! I say this because with that lopsided 5:1 m/f ratio as per users, I shouldn't have any problem meeting a guy on there who is under 35 ,has a job, not married, and lives in my area code. You can find me on Match.com if you look up: sweetpotatoqu196. On AS and LavaLife: SweetPotatoQueen50

DARRIN in CONCORD, CA.......DELETE THE EDATE REVIEW LINK. YOUR OPINION DOESN'T NEED TO BE AT THE TOP ALL THE TIME. I POSTED MY THREAD ON AMERICAN SINGLES, WAAAAAAAY BEFORE YOU POSTED YOUR THREAD ON AMERICAN SINGLES.

I read a finical report about Sparks network. The company hasn't netted a profit in years. If you're a member do yourself a favor and CANCEL your American Singles membership. Chapter 7 or 11 is only months away for Sparks. When a company goes bankrupt, the company will try and screw over as many people as possible. MCI/WORLDCOM tried charging me for a cell phone, I never ordered through them. KMart was overcharging for some items, when they were in rounds with Chapter 11.

Leave American Singles now!

AmericanSingles - Sad site. It would be nice if someone could successfully slap a lawsuit against them for fraudulent practices. They use enticements such as allowing Beautiful models who just "CAN'T" seem to find Mr. Right so they decide to try AmericanSingles. I was a sucker who purchased a 1 month subscription just so I could reply by e-mail to a tease which was sent me. Well , after calling customer service to find out if "she" was a paying member - well suddenly "her" turned out to be a "he" who went by the name "cellfonehead" from Carmichael , California and the profile was removed. Another gal was supposed to be 36 , but looked like 15. Or another one was 24 , 6'2 and 88Lbs! Many prostitutes on this site as well as babes who last logged on in December 2003! Another thing that was questionable was the people who claim to have a master's degree and can't even write a legible paragraph. Well , surely AmericanSingles don't/won't or can't police all this deception - nor do they care - as long as they can get 1 more membership what the hell do they care what goes on with their site. Steer clear of AMERICANSINGLES is my advice to you!

When I first started using online personals, I posted a profile on American Singles. The interface looks good. That's the only positive comment I have about American Singles. I can't list all of the complaints, I have too many to complaints to state. American Singles doesn't take care of their site. What drove me away form American Singles is users cannot view emails, unless the user pays for a membership. The site has a trashy feel. I believe this is a big corporate raid. Anyone can assume this site isn't popular because the last post is from March. I don't think there is any way to sue American Singles or Sparks. American Singles is really a sad site. The only reason anyone should post a profile on American Singles is to woo customers to another site. Yes....There are profiles that do just that.

Imagine yourself revisiting a part of town, where you had lived in the past. Upon your return, you notice things like prostitutes and spray painting. Your old neighborhood is deteriorating and crime ridden. Well, thats how I felt when I revisited American Singles, after a year of suspending my membership.

Thumbing through the profiles of women, I noticed that many, no most of the new profiles are fake. In fact, quite a few of the profile pictures still had a website stamp on them. Too many of the profiles have a 2-3 sentence text and talk about finding a guy for sex. Also, there were alot of other profiles with horrible grammar, the text spoke of marring and having a family. I assume there are no standards for approving profiles at American Singles. This makes it easy for webmasters and camgirls to advertise on this so called dating site. A majority of the profiles on American Singles had not been active, in over a year.

After 5 minutes of being online, I received a I.M.. The sender of the I.M., simply wanted me to send them a email at their Hotmail account. Have you seen the popular webpic, of the skinny brunette sucking on a lollipop? Well, that was the profile pic. I tried striking up a conversation with this chatbot but never got a response.

I kept my profile active for 2 weeks. In the 2 week period of time, I received one view from this overweight gal. I remember, this overweight gal had tried to contact me, when I was a member over a year ago. Last year, I thought I was pretty hot property for the first 2 weeks. At that time, I received 15 emails and 2 of them were from attractive women. Obviously, there are no real women left at American Singles.

Have you ever had a old pet, like a cat or dog? You are watching this old friend of your die and the time has come to put it to sleep. Well, that's how I feel about American Singles. The time has come to pull the plug on American Singles servers. If your a member, take your money and run! I suspect that when American Singles pulls it plug, you won't get a refund, unless you fight for it. I feel that Match.com, EHarmony, and Yahoo Personals have buried American Singles so far in the dust, that American Singles will never get out. I don't see how American Singles can even be profitable right now. Thats why I believe, MatchNet will pull the plug on American Singles.

STAY AWAY FROM AMERICAN SINGLES!

Avoid this site! If you look at members currently online. You may notice it is one-third of what it was last year. This site is on its last swirl, before being flushed down the tolite. I predict that this site has maybe a year left. All I have to say is, "goodbye AmericanSingles". You killed yourself. The most lame part about AmericanSingles is, you can't even view your emails unless you are a paying member. Also, there are forgotten profiles on that site from 2002. At least Match.com will kick out a old profile after 5-6 weeks of inactivity.

Goodbye AmericanSingles, see you in H#LL.

I have decided that ALL websites demanding payment to answer email are just scams. They allow YOU to initiate contact with a person that may or may not be real with a wink or whatever, then when you get a reply you have to be a paying member or they have to be a paying member to do more than wink back. I'm not against websites being paid, but its better they get it from advertising. Match.com uses advertising and memberships to pay for the website. Matchmaker was once the best website, though still not great for men, because you had 30 free emails for 2 weeks. Many people decided to stay and paid for memberships. When the free emails kept getting cut back until there were no more, the website mostly died. However, enough loser males will pay for a memebrship to molest women that don't want their sorry ass that maybe the website makes even more money. IT'S ABOUT MAKING MONEY, NOT FINDING LOVE, from the viewpoint of the website owners. They learned from Friend Finder how to tie things into porn sites and whatever. Adult Friend Finder and Alt Friend Finder are even bigger scams. I think Match.com is big enough to be above board on porn sites and fake profiles to bait the loser males into buying memberships, but the smaller websites aren't like that and try to make money any way possible. eHarmony has bugs in the matching and referral system, but they are large. Match.com is the largest by far. Yahoo may be able to suck off other resources to give both of them some competition, but I doubt it would be worth the expenditure now that competition is everywhere these days. LavaLife is a "credit scam" that is a joke to join, and few people do. uDate is the old failed Kiss.com that always sucked. All the rest, including this one, are too small to work even if they were great. DatingDirect and possibly Match.com are the only two worth mentioning for the UK. Matchmaker might make a go of it if they went back to a TRULY free trial period to get in a lot of females. Women DO NOT pay for memberships if they can help it, JUST LIKE IN REAL LIFE. They want the guys to pay for everything. If you're gonna pay for a membership, Match.com gives you more members for the money, and that's what counts. Try them first if you're going to pay, because if you are not successful there, it is highly unlikely you will be successful anywhere. They have twice as many matches than anybody else because they have twice as many members as anywhere else. Before paying for any membership, do a search to see who has the most ACTIVE members, then use that website. That website will probably be Match.com, so this website, like most others, aren't even in the running. You will get about as many members on Match.com as the next 3 websites put together. LavaLife had 4 total members with a photo in the local area in my age group! And they were NOT active members. I hear that LavaLife is Canadian, so maybe it's better there. Match.com and eHarmony are cleaning up, along with DatingDirect in the UK. Match.com is the only online website that is TRULY international with a large member base. The problem is that you must have a SEPARATE membership for each national area. Not like the old days when a single membership worked everywhere. Matchmaker is now a walking vampire whose soul was lost and with little substance that sucks blood money off of loser males. American Singles never got large enough to be a consideration. In America, I believe that when you try Match.com and eHarmony, you have tried the only two that hold any promise. Not that I would buy a membership, however. There are 2 males for every female, sometimes more, in the online world. In the offline world, that is NOT the case. Women should go online, and men should go offline, under present conditions. However, they are doing just the opposite, so it pays to go against the flow to be successful, as always.

The site is suckass suckass suckass suckass suckass suckass suckass and suckass. It outright suxass suxass suxass suxass suxass suxass suxass suxass. Maybe that's why it sucks sucks sucks sucks sucks sucks sucks sucks. It's so rotten that it isn't even worth listing its problems. Match.com is about the only game left in town at a decent price that has a decent sized member base, and it still isn't good in rural areas. It's only 2 stars, so giving this site a whole star is over rating it by about one star. Stay away from second line crap like this, when higher class crap like Match.com is around.

I have posted reviews all over this review site. Every online dating scheme is basically the same. The only one that EVER worked for me at all was the old Matchmaker. However, Lycos totally ruined it, and now Lycos is ruined in the marketplace. That means somebody else would have to buy it and resurrect it, but why bother? There are already too many online dating sites. You need at least 10,000 profiles of men and women per city to make it worthwhile. Nobody want to go back to the old Matchmaker style of offering 50 free emails to trial members. That really boosted the membership base and a few of them would become regular paying members. AS and all the others have abandoned that theory, moving in line with that greatest online ripoff artist of all: Friend Finder and all their associated sites. While every site has its particular flavor: white trash, yuppie, perverts, or whatever......it all boils down to desperado loser males buying most of the paid memberships and curious females posting trial membership profiles and then getting run off by the loser males. Most women I met were trashy as well. If they were attractive and had any money, they were usually psycho headcases or on the rebound from a divorce or breakup. You can pick up women like this in bars and gyms all across the country. If you live in a big city, I would advise visiting the biggest churches and going to their singles events. It can't be any worse than being online and you can meet in person and see if there is any mutual attraction. It virtually every case, there was no attraction on the part of at least one member in every online meeting I ever arranged. There will never be enough members in a rural area to make going online worth your while unless you plan of traveling to the nearest large city. This online thing is strictly for city folks, and they probably don't need it as much as they have a lot of other venues at their disposal. I would suggest joining a gym and at least getting a toned body while you look for people. At least you will eliminate the couch potato loser turds that are all too common online. eHarmony costs too much for what it offers, and most of the other sites have too few members locally to make it worthwhile for most users. The only site you should even try is Match.com because of their huge member base. If it works at all for you, then maybe one or two other websites would be OK. Until LOTS of normal attractive women start joining the websites, it's a waste of time for most males. The ones that have been successful so far have been the males that really didn't need it anyway. Online or offline, the winners will win and the losers will lose. Going online is just another option, and one that works especially poorly for males. I have more chance at a ski resort in a lift chair when it comes to meeting women, and I am having loads of fun in the meantime. Do interesting things in life and pull yourself away from the computer screen, and you will be more successful if you are male. You should only spend an hour or two once a week online if male and deciding to give it a try. Forget about contacting a lot of women. Things work better when they contact you, because at least they are interested, unlike 99% of the other women that saw your profile. Online women are cherry pickers, and unless you look really cherry to them, you have no chance anyway because they get 50 times the email you do. If a man, post a decent profile on several sites, then only check for email once or twice a week and answer any that are interesting. Spending lots of time online will do you little additional good. Let the women do the browsing, as there are many more men than women online and they can do lots of browsing and have a lot better chance of finding somebody really interesting to them. If one finds you attractive, then OK. Otherwise, spend all your other time offline looking for women. Women who mainly read letters that men send are worthless trash wanting success to fall in their laps and are useless in a real relationship anyway as soon as they have to pull their share of the load. Online is 1 star for men, and 3 stars for women. The women who are successful online would have eventually been successful offline, but going online speeds up the process if they don't have time for going to lots of places to meet men. Decent women WILL be successful online if they get the right system going and stick with it. Those expecting instantaneous success will be disappointed. A decent woman that learns the ropes will only need a year at most to make a very nice matchup, but I have learned that most women who join these sites are hopeless cases that are bound for a lifetime of screwed up relationships for whatever reason. Therefore, a guy's only chance is to sit tight and hope one of the few decent gals gets in contact. This reverses the standard male/female roles, and the mass of dummies never seem to realize the fact. Get over it. The only ones who will be successful online are rare gems that are few and far between. They seek the other rare gems, and aren't interested in the bulk of manure they have to wade through to get there. I found I could be more successful elsewhere, since I am male. Until more women join and get more active in making first contact, this situation will not reverse. For women who want to do the choosing, and are not shy, going online is a good deal and it's what they make of it. Until decent motivated women form a larger part of the online population, men should do nothing more that post profiles and check their email if they choose this route. That means they should ONLY join sites that allow them to answer for free to email sent by a female member.

I would give AmSingles a 1 1/2 stars if it was possible only since they don't bomb you with advertising like the other dating sites do. But a huge negative is that non-members can't respond which even lowers the response rate further. Besides that, it pretty much has the same pitfalls as other sites.

Online dating is fantastic for females YES: that even includes FAT, UGLY, BAGGAGE LADEN, INSANE, POOR etc.

The male to female ratios is not 2:1, it's more like 10:1 if you consider the "active" users. (users that log in at least once a week). As he pointed out, it gives the women a huge checklist. Their profiles get viewed thousands of times a week, and many of those men simply email as they have lowered their standards to the point where they will attempt to contact half. This results in hundreds of emails for women a week, and if they are anything above a 5 maybe even hundreds a day.

The odds of getting "picked" are very very slim. It is simple supply and demand. Any guy that says he has great success in online dating is full of sh**. If your a guy, and want your ego killed and be very frustrated I would recommend Match or any other online dating service.
