I had a trial membership. I was enough to let me know that it sucked for men just like every other American website I was ever a member of. I give Match 2 stars, and the OLD Matchmaker 2 stars, which should be rated zero since Lycos trashed it out. I heard that Udate merged with Kiss.com. and it should have been named Kissbutz.com. I never got an email back from that site ever. UNDERSTAND THIS: If you are a male, all American websites suck. If every decent woman found a guy on these American websites, IT WOULD STILL LEAVE 90% OF THE MEN WITHOUT A WOMAN. Time to grow up and find women elsewhere. I took a trip to St. Petersburg, Russia, and found a woman there. Probably better than I ever could find in a whole lifetime of looking on American websites. Udate sucks like a black hole in space. It will suck you into nothingness. It wastes time you could better spend elsewhere.

I would give them less, but that is as low as the rating will go. I commented about Udates new format, Now I can't log-on. It seems like they would treat a WAS paying member with more respect. I logged on as a new member and got right on. Who do you see about a breach of contract? I feel they have become to big and don't care about the little people. There must be better sites out there!!!

They have some neat stuff going on but overall...cheesy. Same old crap you find everywhere else, few people respond to whispers and mail. No offense ladies but most of the women I met there are low caliber, ie: needy, housekeepers pretending to be high society, picky as hell, married but seperated, married and NOT seperated, shallow commentary ad nauseum. I can expect it isn't any different on your side. A great majority don't even post a photo but are looking for above average looking men.I get the impression it is just a place for bored lonely people to browse around, very boring...LOL

uDate is not a bad site, it's just not a good site either. The site has some quality singles on it and seems not to have too many fake ads. Their customer service is at least somewhat responsive to ordinary problems. Their encounters feature is unique: it shows who has matched/browsed/e-mailed/chatted you, and vice versa.

On the other hand, you can't perform geographic searches any closer than your home state. This might be OK if you live in Rhode Island, but not if you're from Texas. There's no way to opt out of the encounters feature, so you can't quite idly browse through ads. Though there ads of of reasonable quality, there aren't very many good ones (subjective opinion) compared with match and Yahoo.

Who knows, it might be worth your while. Check it out thoroughly before you pony up any money.

I've tried a few dating services, and so far gotten the best results from U-Date - so why the low rating?

First, as another reviewer mentioned, one cannot enter one's exact height. I am at the top end of the 5'3 - 5'5" range. Believe me, for men, in that range *every* inch counts! This "range" data entry method is just plain dumb. Weight is less an issue for me, but I can see where that would be a problem for some people too.

Also, they send helpful little notices to you like "Other members who signed up at the same time as you are getting a lot more interest! Why don't you complete your profile? People with complete profiles get more responses!"

This would be a helpful tip, except their computer doesn't check to see if your profile is complete, because mine was. It's kind of an automatic "Ha Ha Loser!" feature that they could probably tweak a bit.

On the other hand, I *really* like their two-way match function which allows you to not only search for people who meet your criteria, but also search for people for whom you meet theirs. As a 5'5" man, it's nice to be able automatically filter out the 95% or so women who want someone taller.

I find nearly all the action on these sites occurs in the first week or two that I'm signed up, so I only sign up for a month at a time, and rotate from site to site. U-Date is going to be pretty far down the list.

I jomped on line and found this sight at least one year ago since than I have changed online carriers and never got on again to my suprise I just foud out that they have been stealing my money every month a pop up came up a very long time ago saying my time was almost up I never renewed now I am trying to get my money back

I have to put one start cause it doesnt go below that. I think udate is horrible, i think it is a way for them to take peoples money. My mother paid for the service and is unable to connect to it. They do not want to assist in connecting problems. They got their money and that is all they care about. I think UDATE is a hoax.

I don't really understand the purpose behind this site. I don't understand why you can't select your exact height or your exact weight. Or why the interface has to be so complicated. Or how to make them stop sending me annoying Emails every week.

I checked out this site, but I found it somewhat confusing and hard to navigate. One thing that irked me is that you couldn't select your exact weight or height, which could either benefit or hurt people if they fall into the higher or lower end of a particular range.

After checking out the site, I continued to get Emails all the time urging me to check out all the people that had been matched for me. The Emails got annoying, and if there is a way to make them stop, I haven't yet bothered to figure out how.

Hopefully some other reviewers can help explain the benefits of this site, because it does seem to be pretty popular.
