AS site is a heap of junk.!! There are generally 3 types of women on there. The first kind are married and thier husbands are too cheap to buy them a nice dinner or give them any loving (cheaters). LOL The second kind
are dirty gold diggers who will only pay attention to you if you make 6 or 7 figure income, drive a BMW and own a 5 bedroom house for them
to give thier 6 fatherless kids a home to live in.. The 3rd and last are those women who consider alimony, welfare and child support a career and talk a lot of smack. I would not recommend it.

One star rated because I couldn't give it none.
Lame site.

This is useless to people that:

1) Live outside of major cities
2) Are minorities
3) Are willing to pay their outrageous rates for the limited service they provide.
4) Are expecting to meet anybody any time soon.

My opinion: Save your money and go w/ a larger site (Yahoo,Match, etc) where you'll at least get SOME action...
Or a free one like POF (which is a POS) or OKCupid where you get less action...but it's FREE.

Avoid,avoid,avoid this site.

I have found a lady and paid for a month so I could contact her. The problem was, she would have to pay to read my message. She gets a notice there is a message, but NOT who it is from. She doesn't take the chance and I lose my message to her.
POF is free Yahoo is OK. Singlesnet is very good. Match is dishonest.

This site, like many other dating sites, doesn't do any type of screening process for members. I had the misfortune of meeting a man who is a pedophile, and has a criminal record. Anyone can join these sites, and my advice is do a background check before starting a relationship. Better safe than sorry, especially if you have children.

I didn't want to rate this site. Isn't there a zero? I thought I'd give AS a try. I would get IM from younger men, who stated they were in the US. But, from chatting with them they sound like they are foreign to the US. Some from other countries would try to IM you. The icing on the cake was a member in NY asking me if I had a credit card and gave me his sob story. I e-mailed AS and recommend they screen members better. I would not recommend this site. There seems to be a LOT of phonies on their site.

Oh No I believe you.... I guess the odds even out in the 35 age range because the men over 35 are more interested in the 20's something y.o. women.

Look, most of the men who use these sites come off of them in an irritated mood because of the off the wall demands women have. I have seen a lot of profiles in which the women stated that they want a man who's 6' tall or taller. It would be one thing if the woman who wants a tall man is tall but more than half of these women are 5'-4" and shorter. It's become bad to the point that men complain about these womens' demands on craigslist. I'd like to know... What the Fuck are these women thinking?

Maybe this is a Seattle thing, because the city where this is taking place is Seattle.

If I was to scan through the profiles on match, Yahoo, or the practicaly defunct American Singles, I'd only find 30% of the women on the site dateable; most of those women would be in the 5'-6" or taller club. However, any of the few shorter women on that site would check her ideal partner as being 5'-10" or taller and somewhere in the profile they would say: "He must be tall".

I'd have to break your bubble but most of the men on who are on these dating sites and online are 5'-9" and shorter. As for the "Tall Guys", many of those taller guys are the submissive, nice-guys that these women eventually reject.

If you're one of those chicks who just has to have a tall guy, then I hope you can make sense of your failure online. Geeeeez, you should have gotten the clue back when you were like 16, HELLO.

To be clear.I'm not saying that a woman should date a shorter guy. But I'm saying that you should have reasonable expectations, because this "I won't settle on anything but the best" rhetoric is just a crock they fed you back in grade school you to keep you off drugs and in school. And practically all women meter a man on the way he makes her feel, not what he looks like.

I can't believe all the misogynist crap I see written here. No Response from Arkansas and Flush Twice, if this is your attitude toward women no wonder you can't find anybody on American Singles or Match or any of the dating sites. You obviously hate women. Please go to Russia and stop pissing and moaning about how you can't meet any decent women in America because they are all "fat pigs" and whatnot. You obviously think you're such a "good catch." Why don't you look at yourselves. (I'm sure you're both George Clooney lookalikes and can afford to be picky, LOL). As a woman who has experienced some of these dating sites, I can verify that there are men on them who are also less than truthful, who don't post their pictures or post outdated or dishonest pictures, who lie about their height, body type and age (or worse, marital status), who are players and waste my time by contacting me first and then disappearing once I respond, and who have totally unrealistic expectations that some 22-year-old bimbette is going to want their balding, paunchy, 40-something ass.

Let's face it, there are good and bad people everywhere, male and female, and unfortunately the nature of online dating is that it gives people a vehicle to be rude, inconsiderate, dishonest and shallow. That's just the way it is, and you've got to accept it going in, and not denigrate an entire sex because you can't find Miss Right. It's not the fault of the sites themselves, it's human nature. Oh, and for those men who think that these sites favor women and we have the upper hand and can afford to "cherry pick", I have just one response: HA! I'm sure every woman over 35 can echo me on this.

I joined American Singles looking for a friend and/or companion. I purchased the 3 month membership instead of trying it out for a month thinking it would increase my chances but, it was a mistake. I would search tons of profiles everyday and would write those I was interested in. Out of the hundred or more profiles I wrote to I received a response from only literally a few. I started to think that there were not even real people on the other end and if there were then what were they at American Singles for? Beware of the renewal fee...for example, I logged into my bank account Sunday morning the 23rd of September and realized they charged me $19.99 to automatically renew my membership. I immediately canceled that morning and called customer service. American Singles customer service explained to me, because my original sign up date was June 22nd and it occurred at night the renewal payment was processed at the same time and date which in this case was September 22rd. American Singles refused to issue a refund even though I did not use their service and I was canceling less than one day after payment was pended (not even cleared). According to American Singles if I canceled within a few hours after the payment was pended they may have given me a refund. The moral is don't pay with credit card unless you want to have it automatically billed for renewal or even better yet, cancel early! I did not meet people on American Singles even though I did talk in live chat and sent numerous messages. Overall I did not like it. I guess it is not for me.

I started my online dating from american singles. With about 2 years' dating on this site, I can't find my love here. So I gave up.

Later, my friends recommended me to try millionariecupid.com, they say it's a great dating service. I joined. I got my love there. Now we are happily married. Now I just want to say: If you can't find you love at AS, please give it a try at millionairecupid.com, maybe you will be luck there too. Best Wishes!
