I have been on and off of Match for the past year+. I am not encouraged at the number of prospects found, 2 dates in that time and very few contacts. My main reason for writing this is in regards to a man who I met on a different website, I thought we hit it off great and we responded for a month, thru emails and chatting/messaging. Things just started not adding up and decided to do some research, and found out he had posted a profile with a different location, different state for where he went to college, etc. The said part he was pretending to be a US soldier in Iraq, which I found out since has become a huge problem. The dating site where I met him has since removed his profile. I found him on Match the next day and reported him as well and so far have not seen his photo come up, with yet a third location. What bothers me the most is comments like the most recent posted here, to quote:
"About the scammers and the players; they're easy to spot and easy to ignore. It's the desperate women that reach out to them. And that's what they're looking for."
This is just NOT true--they are OFTEN easy to spot and SOMETIMES easy to ignore, but some are VERY SOPHISTICATED and even sound educated. I was sure I could spot one easily and have read lots on internet safety. My suggestion and my standard from now on, 3 forms of id/verification/criminal check or people search and phone calls to show location--this is not out of line. One cannot be too careful and Match has problems just like any other social networking site, ALWAYS beware!
