I actually like Match. I joined 4 months ago and at the age of 55, I've been on several first dates with professional, interesting, nice men. Here's the thing: Great pictures and writing honestly about who you really are is the first priority. If you're 'adventurous', then give an example from your life that demonstrates that quality. If you want to find an exciting, intelligent, positive man, then you have to be that kind of a person too and it has to come across in your profile. You're not filling out a job application, so show off your best physical attributes in a tasteful way! And if your profile is full of don'ts and won'ts with a laundry list of qualities you won't tolerate, well then, that's exactly what you'll attract into your life. Be positive, yet sincere.

I think 'winks' are fine. If I'm interested, I wink back and sometimes an email lands in my inbox from an interested guy. I like to keep the initial emails light and fun. I'm not a big fan of phone calls either. At some point, you both have to want to meet or it's time to move on. I have found that a cleverly written profile does not always mean that the person is clever or smart or interesting in person. But sometimes they are!

About the scammers and the players; they're easy to spot and easy to ignore. It's the desperate women that reach out to them. And that's what they're looking for. If you have doubts, listen to yourself. Just use common sense!

Finally, just have fun with Match. Don't take it so seriously. It's just one avenue available to you. But it's definitely better than EHarmony or PerfectMatch. Good luck!
