A Review of Yahoo! PersonalsWrite your own review of Yahoo! Personals! Reviewed By: G Location: Maryland Sex: Male Rating: ***** Date: April 28, 2010 I'm not the "internet dating" type, but since I have Yahoo mail, I checked out Yahoo Personals for almost 4 years before I decided to sign up for one month 3 weeks ago... and now, I'm looking forward to my membership expiration date. There are so many fake profiles on the site, that the site itself should be shut down just on that aspect alone. Also, while periodically browsing during that 4 year period, once I signed up, I realized that many of the same women I saw in 2006 were STILL on the site AND active in 2010... and with the same photos that they've "modified" to reflect a more recent date! So if you didn't know this, you'd NEVER know. 1st of all, what kind of dating loser stays on an internet dating site for YEARS?! And 2nd, why in the hell would they think they're a "catch" in light of that?! Delusion is a helluva drug. The ONLY reason I'm giving the site 2 stars is because I did meet an attractive woman who was a "real" person who seemed very cool and could make me laugh... sense of humor being a disappearing trait in single women making them easy to date but harder to "like" these days. However, on our 1st date, she acted kinda confused, just not severely enough for me to view her as a total whack job. I gave her the benefit of the doubt by concluding that internet dating has jaded her to the point where her erratic behavior was due to her recent experiences with online dating. After our date, I had all but decided that I wouldn't talk to her again because I'm not used to women acting like they're "scared" or "suspicious" of me for no apparent reason. But when she called me the next day, the message she left reminded me of how sweet she was while we talked on the phone BEFORE we met in person. So I'll give it, her, us, one more shot. ONE. But now, I'm a little more cautious of her intentions after we met because her behavior made me apprehensive about letting her get closer to me. But back to Yahoo personals in general. It doesn't seem like the type of dating site for honest people looking for real connections. It seems more like a "hookup" site for people too shallow and unstable for anything more than a "hit and run" situation. And of course, there's the fake profiles that proclaim their obsessive attraction to you with their e-mails and sometimes phone numbers attached. Also, it seems that the more attractive a woman is on the site, the more demanding, unrealistic and shallow she seems to be... which is in direct correlation with why some of the most attractive women have been on the site the longest. So this'll be my 1st and last time on Yahoo Personals... but I'd bet 10 to 1 that if I browsed it 3 years from now, many of the same women will still be there "looking" to be "looked at". In the meantime, I'll see how "chapter 2" with the "semi-sane" woman I met turns out. Maybe she just needs another hug. LOL! |
