It gets a rating of 1 star only because 0 is not an option. I received few matches and of those, after six months, only two within the radius I had designated.

They auto-renewed my account and the moment I got the email notice of the renewal, I "unsubscribed," only to be informed I could not do that because I had not done it prior to the auto-renewal date: "...all eHarmony paid subscriptions are set to automatically renew 24 hours prior to the end of each subscription. This ensures continuous communication with your matches and provides you with our discounted renewal rates. The auto-renewal feature is clarified during the subscription purchase and can be turned on and off from within your account at any time."

CAVEAT EMPTOR! The specifics of their auto-renewal option are NOT STRESSED at the outset. They are fairly well buried in the innumerable tasks they ask you to take care of during the initial subscription phase.

The practice of auto-renewing before giving notice that the renewal is about to occur is nothing but a devious marketing technique designed to bilk consumers out of an additional six months' fee.
