I joined for eHarmony for 6 months. Since I live in the 3rd largest city in the U.S. I figured I would take a chance. I have 2 children so I set the radius at 30 miles...which covers a huge part of Houston. I was matched with over 350 men. I read every profile multiple times before I closed the match. Most of the men I sent "Ice Breakers" to never responded. For every match that was closed, I sent a last message of "Good luck with your search", but never received one back...apparently there are a lot of rude, spiteful and selfish men on eHarmony. Out of the 6 I communicated with, I met with 1. Which seems to be going no where, even though I though we were having a good time. When 1 found out I had kids, that was that...I stated that in my profile, why were we even mached? A few just stopped communicating and didn't even bother to close the match, so after 2 weeks I closed it myself. When my membership was 5 months old I decided to find out about renewing my membership. I thought 350 matches in a city of 7 million was pretty good. I also remembered the advertising at the time I signed up said that "if you don't find someone special in 6 months, we will give you 6 months for free". So I figured I would take advantage of that. I contacted customer service and they "reviewed" my "settings" and told me I would have better results if I expanded my distance setting to 300 miles. This was laughable, but I did it anyway. Remember, I have 2 kids I actually need to take care of and spend time with. I set it to 120 miles. Every match from that change said I was too far away...DUH. EHarmony extended my membership for 1 month...liars. My membership expired 1 week ago and they are still sending me matches. If I log into my account I will be billed for another 6 months. But I also can't contact them to stop sending me matches without logging in. Either way, I am going to get charged. Before my membership ended I changed my "Passionate about" info to state that I was no longer on the site. So I hope other members will see what they are actually getting. I am more disappointed in the company than the men I was matched with. I would strongly recommend that you think twice about this company, they were deceptive and are difficult to contact.
