eHarmony is a con! Run, don't walk away from your computer before signing up with these schmucks! I was a member for a couple of weeks in 2002, HATED it and, after spending about 20 minutes meandering around their obnoxious, customer UN-friendly website, I finally found what I needed to click on to quit (well in advance of the automated renewal date to avoid additional charges). However, their website was set up to not generate any type of confirmation that I'd terminated my membership--no e-mail confirming I'd quit and no chance to do a screen print of my "resignation". When another month's membership fee appeared on my AMEX card the next month, I contacted them by e-mail and then by phone and, all the nitwit would say is: "per our membership agreement, you have to quit prior to your automatic monthly renewal date". When I explained that I HAD quit, he tried to entice me into staying by offering 2 months of free membership. Finally, I had to contact AMEX to get the charges removed. Friends recently talked me into considering "another try" for eHarmony, saying "oh...they've changed". Well, they HAVEN'T! This time, I decided to do some pre-work in the form of e-mail inquiries to the eHarmoneers requesting written confirmation that I'd GET written confirmation if I joined and then resigned. After several rounds of nonsensical, canned e-mail replies ("Thanks for your inquiry; You'll have better luck finding a match if you post more photos"--nonsensical since I hadn't joined or posted ANY photos and, since it didn't come close to answering my questions). When I submitted the same question two more times, I finally got an e-mail saying my membership had been terminated (even though I wasn't a member) for reasons they weren't required to disclose. Since they aren't required to disclose it, I will: eHarmony doesn't want to let people quit without a fight--and, if preventing them from confirming their resignation works, that's what they'll do. DO NOT give these monkeys your credit card number under any circumstances!
