Real people meet in real life situations. Things are forced at singles functions and such. I have never been pleased whether using online dating, speed dating, blind dating, singles groups or whatever. You meet decent people in real life situations who don't have time for all the BS that group organizers tend to come up with. The only people who are successful are the old style type matchmakers with the psychological and interpersonal skills that are capable of actually matching up people, and that takes a lot of time and money and highly tuned skills. Speed dating is another spinoff of internet dating whose main purpose is to make money for the site owners. Personal ads in newspapers work just as well. Meeting sane people in real life works better. I would stay well clear of any organization that just takes your money and invites you to jump into the great big mess they generally create. Anybody can organize a big party if they want to. It would be better to attend functions of organizations that have similar interests to yours, so at least you have some things in common when you meet. Getting OUT and meeting people has worked better for me than staying in and letting somebody else round up a bunch of scoundrels to meet over the internet. The internet works best for those who want to carry on an email relationship and such. That's OK. I have carried on email correspondence for quite some time then been totally disappointed when actually meeting the person. Meeting in person will never take back stage to the internet, speed dating, etc., unless you are too screwed up to allow the old traditional ways to work. Look to get involved in activities you want to take part in, whether you ever meet somebody or not, you had a good time anyway. You have to broaden your horizons to meet people, and those types of people are the ones with suitable mates. Not those who hide out on the internet or only go to poorly planned functions whose main business interest is that they paid the entrance fee. That's no better than meeting in the supermarket or library, which costs you nothing and doesn't eat into your free time in order to attend.
