A Review of Yahoo! PersonalsWrite your own review of Yahoo! Personals! Reviewed By: od-dee-es Location: Port City Sex: Male Rating: ***** Date: March 04, 2007 If Yahoo personals can drum up such high ratings then match.com deserves about 5 1/2 stars. What's up with all the positive reviews of Yahoo personals? The person writing the 5-star Yahoo reviews has to be an employee of Yahoo, because they've allowed themselves to be effected by the negative reviews of YP. Allow me to make one thing clear, I've studied Internet dating for the last 3 years, and I can tell you YP isn't exactly the best site out there. It seems the quality of the YP site is inferior to that of match.com for the reasons of: 1. There are more Quality members on match.com than on YP. 2. The members search engine on YP is deceptive. If you run a search on YP you find duplicate listings of profiles and profiles that have been inactive for several months. This important part of the YP site is poorly managed. 3. The user interface on YP is hard to use and it does strain my eyes. The reason it strains my eyes is because they use a white background and light blue text. 4. It's way easier to search for members on match.com than on YP, and match.com has far more searching options than YP does. I've wrote YP and told them to consider making changes. The only change they've made is by making the view profile pictures easier to use. Other than that, Yahoo only seems interested in milking the cow for what it's worth when it comes to it's YP. They just haven't put much effort into improving the site. I really think that if they made the site more functional and visual appealing they could attract more members. Instead of doing that, they would rather pay people like Lynn Schmitz real?, Toni Ciarcia, or Sharon to post reviews on the catacombs of the internet. Yet YP does have a few advantages over match.com: 1. The first advantage is use of YIM on the YP website. If you're a paying member, you can just click on the smiley face next to the profile and send a message. 2. The next advantage is you can read emails and see who's sending you the email as a free member. I have 3 emails in my match.com mailbox and I have no intention of paying $35 to open them because, I don't know if it's worth it to view the emails. 3. YP is far cheaper than match.com. For example, YP is $25 for 1 month and match.com is $35 for 1 month. Match.com is more because of it's goodies such as it's Dr.Phil and style promotions. I recall the membership fess on match.com jumped up the second they singed Dr. Phil McGraw. However, If YP does make drastic improvements to it's site, the membership fees on YP will rise. Yahoo Personals is more economical and the odd can be better for meeting someone depending on the situation. A woman can sign up to YP as a free member and use YIM if she really does want to meet someone, however her odds ate better if she pays the fees. The main reason for this is because the YP site is more workable than match.com. Are you considering joing an Internet dating site? Do you want to know how to become a member to a dating site? Is Yahoo Personals or match.com right for me? Is online dating any good? Finding love online, is it possible? First, What you should do is sign up as a free member. Second, run a search and count up the members who interest you, if you can find more than several move to step 3. Third, pay the fee and then send only 1 email every 2 days. Many people pay the fees than burn themselves out by sending out as many emails as possible over a short span of time. Like I said, I've studied internet dating for more than 3 years... it will be 4 in a couple of months. In this time, I've set up many profiles and metered results. I've helped a few people out with this. If you're serious about finding love online, using these sites, landing dates, then drop me a line at "x_12_12"... you should know where to address the message. If you're an employee of Yahoo who's serious about improving the site, you're welcome to contact me. If you're a spammer and you spam me I WILL turn you over to the U.S. government, and I know the correct departments of the gov to sent the spam. |
