I was new to the whole internet dating scene, not really knowing what I was doing. I had talked to quite a few men vie e-mail but none of them really interested me. They were nice but, we would e-mail back and forth for a few weeks and then just loose interest in each other. I was about to give up when one day, I received an e-mail from a man that I had never seen in all the searches that I had conducted. His name was Tom and he is from a town just 13 miles away. He told me that he had read my profile and noticed that we had a lot in common and would I please write back to him because I sounded very interesting. Well, I wasn't too sure I wanted to go through all that again. (I had just gotten dumped by a man that I had been e-mailing because I apparently didn't have the physical attributes that he was looking for.) But I figured what the heck, his e- mail was very sweet and polite, so it took a few days to muster up the courage, but, I wrote back to him. We hit it off right away. We talked about everything. Our lives, our families, our work. We e-mailed each other every day. With our busy schedules it was very hard for us to meet face to face. Finally we got a break. He told me that he had some time off on a Saturday night in November. So we arranged to meet at a bar where some friends of mine's band was playing. Well, he didn't show up! I was so hurt, humiliated and dissappointed. I thought "He had better be in the Hospital or Dead, because that's the only excuse I'm going to except." The next morning I received an e-mail from Tom apologizing for not showing up. I told him that it was too bad, he missed a really great time, and that I was very angry with him. He wrote back to explain why he didn't show up. Apparently they had changed his hours at work, and the shift change just happened to be Saturday night. He couldn't call me to tell me because he didn't have my phone number yet. He hoped that I would understand because he really would like to meet me. He sounded so sincere that I told him that if we ever did finally get to meet, he would have to bring me a flower, just one was enough, that way I would know that he was really sorry. We arranged to meet the coming Thursday night. I was sitting at a table with my girlfriends, talking to my oldest daughter, when she tapped me on the arm and said "Mom, he's here." I turned to look and there he was sitting at the bar with a dozen yellow roses. He looked at me and smiled and BAM! It was like getting hit by a truck. He took my breath away! He looked soooo much better than the picture he sent me. Well, we started talking, played some pool (he kicked my butt, by the way)and had a great time. Then he drove me home and walked me to my door. He was hesitant about giving me a good night kiss, so I kind of helped him out, I kissed him. We have been inseperable ever since. And last Thursday on our 3 month Anniversay, he asked me to marry him!!! We are planning a late fall wedding!! We both say that if it wasn't for yahoo personals we probably never would have met. And we encourage all of our single friends to try it.
