To be honest, the first couple of weeks were the most hilarious time I've ever had in my life. You have to come to this online dating environment with a good sense of self, a good attitude, and a good sense of humor. Don't be offended easily and, generally speaking, just practice some common "dating" sense.

I'm a pretty polite person, so I responded to EVERY single conversation starter that crossed my mailbox, most with a personal note (not canned response) even if it was a "thanks, but I don't think we're a good match." And there were A LOT of mis-hits the first couple weeks, but I also started great conversations with some great guys, many of whom I would have considered going on a "real" date with. And, I did go on first and sometimes second dates with less than a handful of guys after just a couple weeks of conversation, before I hit the jackpot. I went on one first date, and that turned into being with the man of dreams. In essence, I found my diamond in the rough!

Of course, it helps to know what you want, what you don't want, and what you are willing to compromise on. Set your expectation level early and see where it takes you. Life is a journey, enjoy the ride!
