If you're a Christian looking only for other Christians, eharmony and Christian Mingle are the best services I've found. I've been a member of eharmony on and off for 3 years and have used Christian Mingle intermittently. I've had more success with eharmony, as far as talking to guys on the phone, going on dates, and meeting period. I've made a couple great friendships through eharmony as well, and have met many more high-quality young men than I've found in my perusing of the Christian Mingle site. Christianmingle also offers a great option for Christians, but it's got more or of a meat-market feel and is more casual. Most of the guys I've smiled at don't return smiles, and the ones that do smile at me are old enough to be my father or foreigners. (I'm attractive, young, and well educated, though, so of course it should be harder for me to find dates.) =) Anyway, it offers more control over the search than eharmony, and you can use it for FREE with great success... if you hint at your email address in the profile. There are tons of members, but the abscence of a guided communication process leaves me feeling a little apprehensive. There's no screening process either- I never met anyone on eharmony in 3 years that gave me an uneasy feeling or who seemed creepy, but I found a weirdo on CM in less than a week. I've also gone out on blind dates with 2 local Christian Mingle guys who were extremely strange, unconfident, and awkward. I NEVER found that with eharmony. Eharmony weeds out people with anger management issues and other characteristics that tend to make someone less well-equipped for a healthy relationship, but Christian Mingle doesn't. The safeguards of eharmony are not there, so be careful, even though a person claims to be Christian. Plus, I think there's some validity to the saying that most people are looking for what they perceive is their "ideal" but that that's really NOT exactly what they need. Just be open minded and communicate with people that you initially thing might not be exactly what you're looking for. I found that the people I made it to the open communication stages of eharmony with (quite a few) were people I absolutely could talk to and get along with. Let's face it, people, finding CHEMISTRY with anyone is not easy... all an internet site is meant to do is connect people with compatibilities. I do not fault eharmony for the fact that I had chemistry with very few of the hundreds of people I was matched with. That's real life. They did a wonderful job of matching me with compatible singles, just like they promised. Christian Mingle makes no such promises. Users be aware. Overall, Christian Mingle (now Relationships.com) is an affordable alternative to eharmony that has the bonus of providing total control over the matching process, but just be careful.
